Our family has never dined-in but we always do delivery. The service is usually quick and I will admit, they have never once gotten our order wrong! We usually order online on Sundays. We get 2 large wonton soups, chow fun with beef and broccoli and bbq pork fired rice. I love the care they put in to delivering our food. Thank you!

Ordered mild cashew chicken. Got very spicy(they called medium spicy). Called and spoke to manager - he tried to tell me that to some people mild means jus a little spicy . . After a conversation about what spicy and mild mean he agreed to make it mild and send it but he insisted on including hot sauce on the side. WTF???? Got the food and it did not look or taste like chicken. . I would Not recommend this place to my worst enemy. The sauce on another meal we ordered was watery and tasteless. Awful.

I got a menu in the mail , I figure I try a new place out .. I order 4 dish .. I order a satay beef , twice cook pork , Hong Kong steak and a beef broccoli. Chow fun .. All the dishes were all watery .. The twiced cook pork the cabbage was hard . The beef chow fun was real salty , the Hong Kong steak was tough and the vegtable soaked in juice with no taste .. The food was also pricey .. Also got charged 4 dollar for a deliver charged which suppose to be 3.00 .. Would not recommend this place ..

This is the worst chinese food i have ever eaten. First off let me tell you they messed up my order and when i called back to tell them about this oversight what i got in return was an angry manager named raymond or ramone i couldnt understand me. The food is disgusting, cold and has more grease on it than a guy in the 50s had in his hair. 22 dollars lost food not delivered properly and eventhough it wasnt what i ordered what i got in return from managment wasnt new food it was a major attitude. Dont eat here unless you enjoy dog food.

Good food, not so good service most days. Also if you're gonna have separate checks be sure to tell them right away or they get super pissy about it. Their site says they close at 10pm most days of the week, but staff will try to convince you its at 9pm. Overall there are much better places to get similar if not better food.

Best Chinese takeout I've ever had! They are kind of expensive but it's worth it, their quality is amazing. They get the food done quickly and it stays warm unlike some other takeout places where your food gets cold as soon as you bring it home. The food comes in perfect servings, I was even able to have leftovers the next day. The crab Rangoon is awesome and it's stuffed with lots of cream cheese. I recommended the sesame chicken, it comes with veggies but if you hate vegetables as much as I do you can get it without them.

I'm from champaign Illinois. So I don't know what the local standards are in terms of Chinese food. But this one for the most you can call it a convenient carryout. It's clean, respectful of its customers. But it has no authentic Chinese dishes at all.

Last night we ordered shrimp pad Thai and chicken pad Thai. For the record, there has been little consistency in getting a really good order of pad Thai and a really bad order. Last nights order was the worst we've had. First, the chicken appeared chewy and fatty and I was unable to eat any of the chicken in my dish (I'm not sure if it was fully cooked? Or if all the chicken was fat? Or if it was even chicken?). This is the 2nd time recently out of many orders where the chicken was questionable (didn't use to have an issue with the chicken). Next issue we had was neither dish had any spice and per the menu this is a spicy dish! Also, both orders were missing the peanuts and sprouts...as well as the lime. This was a horrible order experience and we were VERY disappointed...complete waste of $30 for dinner. This was the 2nd bad order in a row from this place...I don't know that I will order from them again.

Last few times have been very disappointing. So much so that I no longer order from Silver Lake. Sad to say that because I loved their food when I first moved to St Charles. Last two times I ordered, it took over an hour and a half to be delivered. Beef tasted spoiled. Chicken had cartilage chunks. But crab rangoons and fried rice are always good. I wanna love this place, but I just can't...

Great food. This evening was first time I tried this place. Ordered express online at 8 PM and the hostess called me 5 minutes later to check when I'd arrive since they close at 9. Got there in 20 minutes and my table was set, and dish brought out within a few minutes. Got Kung Pao Delight and it was excellent. Waiter refilled my water several times, and brought out the boxed Lo Mein I also ordered online. I am sure the quality and service is not always the same, but I found this place to be nothing like the negative reviews I read. The Lo Mein was great, even the beef in my dish was tender and tasty. Nothing like the reviews. I'll definitely give it a try several more times and see how it goes.

Growing up in St. Charles in the 90s, there was but one Chinese restaurant in town, so when Silver Lake opened its doors, it was a heralded with the whole town's welcome. And when the town had its first taste, it was like mana rained down from heaven. Simply superb. I've simply never had better Chinese food. I'm not sure what they add to their white sauce for their Garden Fresh Vegetable, but whatever it is, it's addictive as hell. Silver Lake has been the standard to which I hold every Chinese dish I've had since. My family wishes we could get royalties for every time we're heard as quoting, "It's okay, but nowhere near as good as Silver Lake." I've since moved from the area, but I have happily driven an hour just to take home another hit of those divine mixed vegetables and vegetable egg rolls.

Terrible service. I ordered online using their website and requested pickup. When I arrived to pick up our food I got nothing but attitude from the snotty sales clerk. She interrogated me about my order claiming it was never made and then miraculously found it stating it was set for delivery. Finally, I convinced her after showing her my phone (which she ripped out of my hands) that the order was for pickup. Then the waiting began. I waited 45 minutes for my food for which the all knowing sales clerk kept repeating would come out in "two minutes". "Two minutes" at Silver Lake apparently means 45 minutes. We finally got our food after being accosted to buy calendars in their freezing restaurant and being passed over by customers who had ordered after we had ordered. We received a wimpish apology only after I asked to speak with the manager who I know came out to hand us our food only he would not admit he was the manager in order to avoid a confrontation. No worries though as I wouldn't admit to working there either considering the terrible job he does and the completely inept staff he hires. My only advice to anyone wanting Chinese food from Silver Lake is order pizza.

Worst service I have seen in a long time. Food is ok, but they should be embarrassed by the service. Never ever take care of take out before the in house guests

What a joke! I went in and asked what kind of smoothies they have and they don't even know!!! The guy behind the counter replied" ugh maybe mango?" Maybe mango?! Dont advertise something if you dont know what youre talking about! How embarrassing.....

AVOID. I have had enough of Silverlake, which is unfortunate because their food is much better than the vastly overrated Gen Hoe. They have an online ordering system for the entire chain, and by using it, you are provided a 10% discount. Tonight, as I have done in the past, I placed an order online. I requested that I be called to confirm the order and be given a pick up time. Thirty minutes later, exactly, I had received no call and decided that I should once again call them to confirm. I was told that my order would be ready within 20-25 minutes of placing the order, so of course, as I had to call them, my order was already complete and waiting to be picked up and getting cold. The girl who answered the phone was incapable of telling me why I had not been called and a manager came on the phone. I was told that since they are busy tonight, no one was calling to confirm orders. When I told him that this was not the first time I had this problem, he told me that I should call in my orders. I then confirmed that if I did this, I would not receive the online discount, to which his reply was "no." He was also argumentative. Granted, this is a busy night and I am sure he's pressured, however, as a manager he needs to handle customers correctly. So you have an online ordering system which is essentially useless as it does not provide a confirmation of your order nor a time for whic your order is to be picked up. Your customer service is completely lacking, evefrom a manager. Epic failure, and the last straw. I am done with Silverlake, and think you should be too.

My all time favorite suburban Chinese restaurant.. If you want super value, get a lunch special - includes soup, egg roll, tea, and a portion your diet shouldn't let you eat but you'll need iron will to take half home in a box. Very good in dining room service, but can get breezy with door opening & closing so try not to sit too close to their counter, which is the draftiest spot. Other than that, top notch. Average menu selection, excellent execution, good value even for dinner.

While my wife and I love Chinese food, we don't eat it very often since our kids are allergic to peanuts and soy, which are using in abundance in Chinese food. We are careful to order menu items that both of them can eat, while still enjoying some of our favorite items. We placed our order via the on-line system (which is very user friendly) and to our surprise, we received a phone call from the restaurant a few minutes later. They must have made a note on our profile that we inquired about the allergies on a previous order and they reviewed the items that we ordered so they could be sure they were prepared in clean cookwear (not always the case in most kitchens). They also offered to make some of the items (like pork fried rice) without using soy sauce. This is not the typical service that we receive from other restuarants regarding food allergies, so it was nice to see a little extra effort made on their part to accommodate our issue. The food was ready on time and the kids enjoyed trying some new menu items too!! Silver Lake provides the best Chinese food and service in the St. Charles area.

AVOID! This opinion was not made lightly. I've eaten here a few times and thought it wasn't so bad. But this last time stopped me for good. I ordered delivery (something I NEVER do) via their online ordering system, which I thought was really cool. I only ordered egg drop soup, pot stickers and this special entree. That was at 7:45. I asked it be delivered by 8:20. Well... 8:45 rolls around and I'm STARVED! I called and the girl says 'oh he just left and will be there soon'. I live literally 5 minutes away. 9:00 and I call again. An Asian gentleman gets on the line and assures me the driver will be there in 5 minutes. I could've driven there, eaten my food and be digesting it at this point! I was livid. I pride myself on being a great tipper and the driver got no tip. Also the so-called 'special' was horrible. The pork tasted old and inedible and the noodles were gross. SO disappointing being that I'd waited so long for my food. My potstickers were also very bland. The only saving grace was the egg drop soup, which is pretty hard to screw up. There are better places to have American Chinese food. Don't waste your time or money here. It's not worth it.

I have been to the other Silver Lake restaurants for years. I went a few weeks ago with my daughter and we had to beg for service. We waited almost thirty minutes and no one bothered to take our order. We kept asking for service and they just gave us egg rolls. We ended up walking out after45 minutes. They never even bothered to apologize for their terrible service.

Craving Chinese as I often do, I needed to find a place in St. Chuck to fix me up. So I Yelp! mobile-d Chinese in the area, and this was on the top of the list. Now my GPS decided to take me in the wrong direction down Kirk Rd. So if yours does the same, just remember that this place is right next to Jewel. You will see the signs for the shopping center on the corner of 64 and Kirk Rd. Look at me. Being all helpful. I wish more Chinese places were like this. Along with convenient take-out and delivery, it's ideal for dining in too. Clean, intimate, and pretty. As far as the food, I have no complaints. I opted for the "sizzling" garlic beef, which I requested extra hot, and an order of egg rolls. It met my demands, and overall and I'd say it's slightly better than average. As another reviewer mentioned, it may be a little more expensive than your typical place, but portion sizes are decent. If I'm ever staying out this way again, I'll keep Silver Lake in mind.

My family and I have been coming here for years, and they were always our go to for delivery. But today, I ordered their lunch special the general tso's chicken. I had a few bites when it came and the chicken was and hard as a rock. So I saved it for later and figured the microwave with the chicken sitting in the sauce would help. Nope, didn't help at all. And I only Waited an hour to try it again. So I called and the manager YELLS at me saying I needed to eat it all fresh. I tried to explain that I did and it was still nasty, but then he got nasty. He laughed at me and told me if I brought it all back maybe he would make me a new one.... I was in shock. I ordered delivery, and you want me to bring your nasty, hard, chicken all the way back to you, even though I had to PAY for a delivery charge! I will never be coming back here, especially when being treated that way and laughed at by the manager. Also if your saying your food tastes bad later, why provide all your dishes in microwave safe containers?

My boyfriend and I got take out here about a month ago. It was very bland. The chicken tasted like rubber and was cut in utterly convenient squares which makes me feel like it was super processed. I think you can find better Chinese elsewhere...

This place isn't too bad. The food is decent and the service is great. Its much better than the Silver Lake in Bartlett.

I usually do take out, but I decided to dine in recently. I love the ambience and the service is fantastic. The egg rolls and crab rangoons are amazing and the servings are enough for two or three people to share. I would definitely recommend it! Oh and make sure to order online for take out - I think you get 10% off.

I always use their online delivery. Depending on the day, it usually takes about 45 to 75 minutes to get my order. I like their food. Prices for crab rangoons are to expensive!! I usually sick with the fried rice. The chicken in the fried rice looks like still spam cubes. Not many options for Chinese around here.

Ever since the Chinese restaurant that we usually dined at closed over a year ago, I have been on the hunt for another Chinese establishment to dine at. I have heard great things about Silver Lake and have often received coupons from them in the mail. While family was in town for the Memorial Day weekend, we decided to give Silver Lake a try. I went online to look at their menu, and to my surprise I was able to complete my entire order online! I found this feature very convenient as I could add extras and order the level of spice for each entree. Plus if you order online you get a 10% discount on your entire order...how great is that?!? After completing the order online I was called five minutes later from a very nice lady at the restaurant confirming my order and the time I would be picking it up. To say the least I was very impressed by the customer service thus far! Upon picking up the order, the restaurant seemed very nice and clean, which I could not say about my previous favorite Chinese restaurant (maybe that had something to do with it's demise?!?). The lady who greeted me once again confirmed my order and was very pleasant to deal with! The food was a little on the heavy side and I have had better egg rolls from other Chinese restaurants. The chicken fried rice was pretty good, and my sesame beef was tasty, but again on the heavy side. While my first impression of the food was less than stellar, I will most certainly give Silver Lake another try in the future!!

Best fried rice you'll find in the suburbs. They offer a lunch menu that includes fried rice & an egg roll (unless you order a noodle dish) for $6.25 plus you get a little coupon with each lunch purchased & if you collect 5 or 6-you get a lunch free!

The best Chinese carryout I have found in the Fox Valley. While the prices may be a bit more than some other comparable restaurants, the quality of the food is worth the additional pennies! We order from here at least once a month. Never dined in - seems pretty quiet - too quiet for a family with noisy kids. Highly recommend if you want good quality, tasty Chinese food. Our favorites: General Tao's Chicken, Kung Pao Beef, and their Chicken Fried Rice is awesome!

I've gone here several times but only ordered one thing since it's so good--mooshoo chicken. The pancakes are the perfect thickness and texture, and the plum sauce is amazing. It's always better when I eat in since they make the first few for me, but it's still pretty tasty when I eat take out and attempt to roll it myself. The crab rangoon is also pretty good here, and it's not too pricey at all.

I love the food at Silver Lake Chinese. It is a clean and pleasant atmosphere, but a tad small if it does get crowded. The food is a little pricey, but you do get a decent amount of food and it is above par. Rarely do they mess up an order and they are very flexible at customizing orders. They have any kind of food that a Chinese restaurant can offer along with a stocked bar. Aside from the price, this is one Chinese restaurant you must go to.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
